Hampden-Sydney Tennis Falls At Southern Virginia 6-3

BUENA VISTA, Va. -- Junior Clark Cummings/Norfolk posted wins in both singles and doubles, but Hampden-Sydney College dropped a 6-3 non-conference men's tennis road decision at Southern Virginia University on Monday in Buena Vista.  The Tigers are now 2-7 overall, remaining 1-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).

In doubles, Cummings and freshman Tyler Brice/Rocky Mount, N.C. won at No. 3, 8-6. Junior Matthew Moody/Raleigh, N.C. and sophomore William Driskill/Middleburg fell at No. 1, 4-8. Juniors Michael Moody/Raleigh, N.C. and Grayson Burns/Waynesboro fell at No. 2, 3-8.

In singles, Burns won at No. 4 by scores of 1-6, 7-5, 6-3, while Cummings won at No. 6 by scores of 6-0, 6-0.  Matthew Moody fell at No. 1 by scores of 3-6, 1-6. Michael Moody fell at No. 2 by scores of 6-1, 3-6, 0-6.  Driskill fell at No. 3 by scores of 0-6, 2-6.  Brice fell at No. 5 by scores of 6-4, 0-6, 2-6.

H-SC will return home to welcome ODAC member Randolph College on Wednesday, March 20, at 2 p.m. at the Tennis Courts.  It will be the first home contest this year for the Tigers.
