HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Hampden-Sydney College senior Jacob Mann/Mebane, N.C. has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week for the period September 30 – October 6. It's the first ODAC Athlete of the Week honor for Mann and the Tigers this season.
Mann has helped lead the Tigers to a 2-0 record on the week with a pair of shutouts. The Tigers started off with a 1-0 win over Shenandoah. Mann took a pass from senior Spell Carr/Clinton, N.C. in the 62nd minute and shot over the outstretched arms of the Hornets keeper for what proved to be the game-winner.
With H-SC leading 1-0 against Bridgewater, Mann returned the favor to Carr with less than a minute left in the second half. Mann passed the ball to Carr who shot the ball from 30 yards out past the keeper to extend the Tigers lead.
For the season, Mann leads the Tigers (7-5, 2-0 ODAC) in goals (5), assists (3), points (13), and shots on goal percentage (.647).
The Tigers will travel to Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, October 9 as they look to extend their six-game win-streak against the Marlins.
