HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Hampden-Sydney Soccer team finished up play at the Jimmy Mills Classic dropping a 3-0 decision to host Haverford on Sunday afternoon. The Fords scored a pair of goals in the first half before adding a third in the second half to hold off the Tigers. H-SC moves to 1-4 on the season with Haverford improving to 2-1.

The Fords found the back of the net in the first half off a pair of goals by Nick Janelli in the 13th and 31st minute, giving Haverford a 2-0 lead at the intermission.

After a H-SC committed a foul, the Fords scored on a free kick from 30-yards out to the top left corner of the goal and give Haverford the final 3-0 goal margin.

Junior Gray Sutter/Clinton, N.C. made three saves in goal while playing all 90 minutes for the Tigers.

The two teams each took four corner kicks with Hampden-Sydney having the advantage in shots (12-8). The Fords caused 15 fouls to just seven for the Tigers.

H-SC returns home on Wednesday, September 11 when it hosts Averett in a non-conference match up at 7 p.m. Last year the Tigers picked up a 4-1 win over the Cougars in Danville. Senior Spell Carr/Clinton, N.C. tallied four points on a goal and two assists.
