HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Hampden-Sydney College junior Spell Carr/Clinton, N.C. has been named to the 2018 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State Men's Soccer Second Team.  The midfielder had previously been named All-ODAC Second Team, as well.

Carr started all 16 matches during 2018 and led Hampden-Sydney in goals (7), assists (7) and points (21), tying for the team lead in game-winning goals (2).  He scored two goals, including the game-winner, during a 3-1 victory against Emory & Henry on September 29, had one goal and two assists during a 4-1 road win at Averett on Sept. 12, and posted the game-winning goal during a 2-1 road win at Ferrum on October 19.  Carr finished the season on a hot streak, registering at least one point in each of the final six contests and seven of the last eight matches overall.

Against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) competition-only, Carr ranked second among midfielders in goals (6) and points (13), while overall in ODAC games, he ranked sixth in goals and points, and tied for ninth in game-winning goals.  His 21 season points represent the highest total by a Tiger since Bryan Wharton scored 28 (12g, 4a) in 2010.
