Tigers Remain on the Road to Face Bridgewater

Major Morgan

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-The Hampden-Sydney football team will remain on the road and face Bridgewater College in ODAC action on Saturday, October 13 at 2:00 PM. The two teams will be meeting for the 75th time since 1929 with the Tigers holding a commanding 59-15 lead in the series.

While the Tigers have dominated the series, Bridgewater won all meetings in the early 2000s while winning five straight ODAC Championships. The Tigers have reclaimed control, winning nine of the last 11 meetings. The two wins by Bridgewater in that stretch have been the last two meetings at Jopson Field - a 45-35 win in 2016 and a 34-9 decision in 2014.

This season, both teams are looking to return to the win column with the Tigers coming off of a 59-34 loss to Shenandoah and Bridgewater having fallen 30-20 to Washington & Lee.

Both teams stand at 1-1 in conference play, along with four other teams in the league creating a logjam in the standings. Randolph-Macon is the lone 2-0 team while Guilford - at 0-2 - is still seeking its first win.
