Football Celebrates Season at Annual Banquet

2013 Seniors

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-This past Saturday, the Hampden-Sydney football team had its banquet celebrating its historic season while also presenting the 2013 ODAC Champion rings. 106 players received the rings, making it the second piece of jewelry for the juniors and seniors, who also won the ODAC Championship in 2011.

The 2013 Tigers won the program's eighth ODAC title and for the first time in school history won a first round playoff game with a 42-34 decision over Maryville. The Tigers then travelled out west and ultimately fell 31-21 to second-ranked nationally Linfield College (OR).

Individually, several players received accolades, including 13 All-ODAC picks with senior linebacker Tyler Ikwild (Philomont, VA/Loudoun Valley) and head coach Marty Favret taking home Defensive Player and Coach of the Year awards, respectively; five All-Region picks with Nash Nance (Calhoun, GA/Tennessee) being named the South Region Offensive Player of the Year; and three All-American picks.

The Tigers kick off the 2014 season on the road, facing Wabash College (IN) on September 6.
