HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-Hampden-Sydney (8-2, 6-1 ODAC) will host its third NCAA Division III Football Championship first round game since 2009 and will square off with the Scots of Maryville College (8-2, 6-1 USA South) for the first time since 2003 on Saturday, November 23.
Each team received a Pool A bid after winning their respective conferences. The Tigers punched their ticket in a thrilling 28-26 win over arch-rival Randolph-Macon in week 11, while the Scots wrapped up the conference with a week ten win over Greensboro.
2013 marks the fifth NCAA Playoff appearance for the Tigers and first-ever for Maryville. The winner will face the winner of Linfield (OR) and Pacific Lutheran (WA).
The two teams have met 24 times with the Tigers holding a 17-7 advantage in the series. Under head coach Marty Favret, the Tigers are 4-0, having met Maryville each season from 2000-03.
Tickets will be sold for Saturday's game and are $8 for general admission, $4 for students, and children under two will be admitted for free. Tickets will be sold through Friday in the athletics office on the second floor of the Kirk Athletic Center. They can also be purchased at Lewis C. Everett Stadium the day of the game.
