HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-Hampden-Sydney will hit the road for the first time in almost a month to face off with the Wasps of Emory & Henry in a key ODAC matchup on Saturday, October 19. The Tigers currently stand in a three-way tie for first with Randolph-Macon and Guilford after two weeks of the ODAC season. A win for the Tigers would, at best, give them sole possession of first place, and, at worst, keep them in a three way tie at the top. A loss to the 0-2 Wasps would make the conference standings even more congested.
The Tigers are coming off of a 28-7 win over Bridgewater, a game in which Sidney Henry (Haymarket, VA/Battlefield) won D3football.com and ODAC Play of the Week honors for his 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
The Wasps were on the losing end of a 21-17 decision to Washington & Lee University.
Head coach Marty Favret has had much success over the Wasps, posting a 10-3 record while coaching the team to victory in the last five meetings.
The last time Hampden-Sydney was in Emory was no walk in the park, however. After leading 26-7 in the second quarter, the Tigers saw the Wasps charge back and score a touchdown with time expiring to bring Emory & Henry within two. The Tigers, though held strong on the two-point conversion attempt and escaped with a 38-36 win.
