Football to Host CNU in First Meeting Saturday

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-This Saturday marks the first ever meeting between Hampden-Sydney and the Captains of Christopher Newport University. The Tigers kicked off their season on the road and took a 20-6 victory over Averett University while the Captains fell 40-16 to #7 Salisbury in Newport News.

Hampden-Sydney has played 106 more seasons and 875 more games than Christopher Newport, but the Captains have made up for lost time having already won six USA South Championships.

Though these two successful programs have never met, they are fimiliar with the opposing conference. The Tigers, under Favret, are 12-0 against the USA South, and the Captains, under 12th year head coach Matt Kelchner, are 3-3 against the ODAC.
