LAGRANGE, GA-The Hampden-Sydney Tigers fell 6-0 in their first of three games against fifth-ranked LaGrange College. The Panthers' Ryan Broaderick pitched a complete game shutout, holding the Tigers to just six hits. With the loss, the Tigers drop to 13-8 on the season while LaGrange improves to 24-2. The two teams will play two more tomorrow, starting at 12:00 PM.
LaGrange started out slow and steady, scoring one run in each of the first two innings. Zach Perkins (Appomattox, VA/Appomattox) threw a scoreless third and fourth, but LaGrange crossed the plate again in the fifth and scored three more in the sixth.
Overall, Perkins allowed six runs – three earned – on six hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Trey Celata (Chesapake, VA/Atlantic Shores Christian) threw 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits with one strikeout.
